The King's HeadLondon's original pub theatre is located in the back room at the The King's Head. It was founded in 1970 by the pub's owner, Dan Crawford, and since then has established itself as one of the best places to see top quality, independent theatre. Some of Britain's biggest talents got their start here, including Kenneth Branagh, Hugh Grant and Imelda Staunton, and many return here to try out new and experimental work. Expect to find all kinds of shows performed, from musicals, classics, and stand-up comedy to world premieres from newcomers and established playwrights. Music, film and theatre posters cover the walls and while plays are performed in the small theatre at the back (previous incarnations include a boxing ring and a pool hall) there's also live music in the bar area out the front with free music almost every night (from around 9.30pm) from swing to rock 'n' roll, blues and jazz.
