December 2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth and to celebrate the occasion Wigmore Hall presents its special season, Beethoven 250. Launching in September 2019 with Beethoven Festival Weekend, which will offer ten concerts over two days, the season will run until December 2020 with a programme covering a wide array of Beethoven's chamber and instrumental works. The season will also examine the composer's legacy and provide fresh insight into his works. The Beethoven Festival Weekend will welcome leading artists including Steven Isserlis and Robert Levin while other highlights include two solo violin works performed by Tamsin Waley-Cohen and a new string trio performed by the Albion Quartet.
About Wigmore Hall
Built by the Bechstein piano company in 1901, this grandiose concert hall is regarded by many as London's best venue for chamber and solo performances. Wigmore Hall's renaissance materials - alabaster and marble - and the rectangular shape have given it a clear, clean acoustic that is a world away from the boom of the great domed concert halls.
